Gujjarango Aaino, a live exhibition and photo archive is a small part of a larger movement that aims to spread awareness about the Van Gujjars; preserve knowledge systems in community forest management, sustainable and ethical milk production, wisdom on rich biodiversity, migratory endurance, routes and patterns and the linguistic expertise in Gojri. Importantly, it is to make the implementation of Forest Rights Act, 2006 smoother, efficient and in all honesty, a reality for the community that has often been restricted to exercise this legal and constitutional right.
गुज्जरां-गो-आइनो, तस्वीर संग्रह एक बड़े आंदोलन का छोटा हिस्सा है जिसका उद्देश्य वन गुज्जरों के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाना है: सामुदायिक वन प्रबंधन, टिकाऊ और नैतिक दुग्ध उत्पादन, समृद्ध पर ज्ञान में ज्ञान प्रणालियों को संरक्षित करना है। जैव विविधता, प्रवासी धीरज, मार्ग और पैटर्न और गोजरी में भाषाई विशेषज्ञता। मुख्य रूप से, यह एफआरए को सरलता से, कुशल तरीके से और सभी ईमानदारी से लागू करना है, इस समुदाय के वास्तविकता जो अक्सर इस संवैधानिक अधिकार का उपयोग करने के लिए प्रतिबंधित किया गया है।
Methodology – The idea of the photo-archive achieved fruition through several discussions with the community who seemed excited to document their culture. The Gujjarango Aino project was planned in 4 phases in Gohri Range and the resettled village of Pathri.

PHASE 1
October 2020-June 2021
For this pilot phase, we worked with the children [ages 4-14] of the community. Workshops were held in deras and villages of Uttarakhand to train children aged between 4-14 years, in basic phone photography. They were then asked to liberally click snippets of their lives; the ones they wanted the world to see—in an attempt to encourage an auto-ethnography. All pictures displayed in the exhibition are clicked by basic smartphones.
We launched the Children’s virtual exhibition online in June 2021, with in-person screenings and felicitations done in project locations. Having received good feedback, we proceeded for the next phases in September 2021.

हमने जून 2021 में बच्चों की Virtual प्रदर्शनी को ऑनलाइन लॉन्च किया, जिसमें व्यक्तिगत रूप से स्क्रीनिंग और परियोजना स्थानों का सम्मान किया गया। अच्छी प्रतिक्रिया मिलने के बाद ही , हमने सितंबर 2021 में अगले चरणों के लिए आगे बढ़ने का अभियान जारी रखा।
PHASE 2
September 2021-October 2021
For Phase 2, we worked with women [16+]. However, the formats of the workshops differed slightly. Through games and icebreaker sessions, the women proposed various facets of their lives that they wanted to showcase. Post training and photography field-trips; we held a narrative building and a caption writing exercise. The Van Gujjar women in both locations even chose group leaders who would take over the project and continue it within their communities

दूसरे चरण के लिए, हमने 16 महिलाओं के साथ काम किया, कार्यशालाओं के प्रारूप थोड़े भिन्न थे। आपसी विश्वास बढ़ाने और महिलाओं की झिझक दूर करने की कोशिश सत्रों के माध्यम से, की गई थी ।महिलाओं ने अपने जीवन के विभिन्न पहलुओं का उजागर किया, जिन्हें वे प्रदर्शित करना चाहती थीं। प्रशिक्षण और फोटोग्राफी के बाद क्षेत्रीय यात्रा की; हमने एक विवरणात्मक और एक कैप्शन /शीर्षक लेखन का अभ्यास स्तर आयोजित किया। दोनों स्थानों पर वन गुज्जर महिलाओं ने समूह के अपने नेताओं को भी चुना ,जो परियोजना को संभालेंगे और अपने समुदायों के भीतर इसे जारी रखेंगे।
Phase 3
October 2021-November 2021
This phase was targeted towards men. Since Van Gujjar males have better access to smartphones as well as better technical literacy; we decided phase 3 to be a trial for capacity and initiative building. In lieu of the workshops; we held focused group discussions and quick training sessions with men to discuss the project. The men then elected a group leader who was tasked to lead the project instead of the facilitators. They were given a deadline within which they were supposed to share photographs and captions.

यह चरण पुरुषों के लिए योजित था। चूंकि वन गुज्जर पुरुषों के पास स्मार्टफोन तक बेहतर पहुंच के साथ-साथ बेहतर तकनीकी साक्षरता भी है, हमने चरण 3 को क्षमता और पहल के निर्माण के लिए एक परीक्षण के रूप में आरंभ किया। कार्यशालाओं के बदले; हमने परियोजना पर चर्चा करने के लिए पुरुषों के साथ केंद्रित समूह चर्चा और त्वरित प्रशिक्षण सत्र आयोजित किए। पुरुषों ने तब अपने में से एक समूह का नेता को चुना, जिन्हें सुविधाकर्ताओं के बजाय परियोजना का नेतृत्व करने का काम सौंपा गया था। उन्हें एक समय सीमा दी गई थी , जिसके भीतर उन्हें फोटोग्राफ टिप्पणीऔर शीर्षक के साथ साझा करने वाले थे।
PHASE 4
October 2021-Ongoing
In this phase we are creating a community-led Gujjarango Aino team of two women and two men within the Van Gujjar Tribal Yuva Sangathan. The non-community facilitators will take a back seat but will be available to mentor and support. After training in media, storytelling, website-design, marketing and maintenance; this team will be in charge of Gujjarango Aino. It will be responsible for adding to the exhibition and archive on an annual basis as well as promoting on social media.

इस चरण में हम वन गुज्जर ट्राइबल युवा संगठन के भीतर दो महिलाओं और दो पुरुषों की एक समुदाय के नेतृत्व वाली गुर्जरंगो ऐनो टीम बना रहे हैं। गैर-सामुदायिक सलाहकार की मुआयना करेंगे ,लेकिन सलाह देने और समर्थन के लिए उपलब्ध होंगे। मीडिया, कहानी सुनाने, वेबसाइट-डिज़ाइन, मार्केटिंग और रखरखाव में प्रशिक्षण के बाद; यह टीम गुज्जरां-गो-आइनो की प्रभारी होगी। यह वार्षिक आधार पर प्रदर्शनी और उपलब्ध संग्रह में जोड़ने के साथ-साथ प्रचार करने के लिए जिम्मेदार होगा।

Due consent for training, photography, exhibiting, and distribution was taken from the children as well as their parents and guardians.
This is an ongoing exhibition and we shall keep adding new photographs to it as we take this project forward with Van Gujjar women, men, elders, and animals.
The role of the non-community team members has been that of training, facilitation, production, and promotion of these photo stories.
